06/10/2023 The EU Youth Action Plan - now what? Insights from civil society

In October 2022, the European Commission launched its first-ever Youth Action Plan (YAP) for EU external action, covering 2022-2027. This paper, written jointly by European civil society organisations, offers a brief analysis of the YAP and introduces a set of recommendations for its execution.

Together with other civil society organisations, we call on EU institutions to ensure that the Directive truly serves the needs of all survivors/victims of violence against women and girls and domestic violence, advances the achievement of gender equality and the effective protection of victims’ rights in the European Union, and recognizes the essential role of civil society organisations in ensuring prevention, protection, and direct support services for victims.

15/09/2023 End FGM EU's Letter of recommendations to the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the EU

As part of our advocacy efforts, every six months we send End FGM EU’s recommendations to the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union on matters related to FGM and Gender Equality. On September 13, we addressed Spain with a letter of recommendations for their ongoing semester as Presidency of the Council.

23/08/2023 Joint Statement: Welcoming the European Commission’s Publication of the Revised Victims’ Rights Directive

On July 13th, the European Commission released the proposed revision of the Victims' Rights Directive. End FGM EU together with the wider community of NGOs working on victims' rights in Europe have signed this join statement to welcome the awaited Revision proposal, but also to highlight some shortcomings.

27/06/2023 Women of Grace UK Summer Updates

Women of Grace UK is excited to announce two upcoming activities, as the organisation continues its efforts of supporting women and girls at the community level. Their monthly workshops for Survivors will begin in July, and their weekly community meetings will be held starting June, every weekend on Saturday.

Wadi continues to expand their #StopFGM Campaign. In May, Wadi hosted a conference inviting activists and NGOs from South and Central Iraq to meet with their Kurdish counterparts and address the need for a law banning FGM in all of Iraq.

27/06/2023 UNAF Summer Updates

UNAF is currently involved in the project 'Addressing gender-based violence in an intersectional and intercultural approach', funded by the Ministry of Social Rights and Agenda 2030, whose main objective is to guarantee and facilitate the access of all women under equal conditions to public services and resources to address gender-based violence and guarantee the exercise of their rights. To achieve this, they are implementing different actions that follow the lines of training, awareness and advocacy.

This June, the Join our CHAIN project entered its fourth month. Each of the three organisations (Terre de Femmes, Germany; ActionAid Italy; AkiDwA, Ireland) were able to recruit eight community trainers and organised a kick-off meeting to get to know each other.
