Asylum Aid - The rights of women seeking asylum: A Charter

'The rights of women seeking asylum: A Charter' was drafted by Asylum Aid in response to a growing concern over the lack of a gender-sensitive approach in handling of asylum claims by the government body in charge, UK Border Agency.

The Charter spells out the specific needs of women going through the asylum process, and asks for specific improvements like childcare to be implemented. It also considers the Fast-track procedure to be incompatible with a gender-sensitive approach to asylum. Several recommendations from the Charter were gradually implemented over the next two years.
