Médicos del Mundo – Flashmob in Madrid

Médicos del Mundo took part in multiple events and actions around Spain.

As every year, Médicos del Mundo Madrid organised a street event to celebrate the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation. It was held in Plaza del Sol, one of the busiest places in the city, where a tent was set up with information on FGM and the photo exhibition "My Struggle, Our Struggle". Moreover, the group of women activists against FGM made a flashmob on FGM, a version of "A Rapist in your Path", the Chilean anti-rape feminist protest.

Médicos del Mundo is carrying out projects to raise awareness among teachers and school staff to identify possible cases of FGM. They did an animation for social media to explain how to protect girls from FGM and took part in a Radio Programme. They talked about their project in a school in Castilla la Mancha, where there is a high Mali originated population. Last year, three cases of FGM were detected when they could have been prevented.
