GAMS Belgium - A call to the Belgian government

On the International Day of Zero Tolerance against FGM, GAMS Belgium called on the Belgian government with their political asks.

Women in precarious situations are confronted with different types of gender-based violence. Their status makes it almost impossible to prevent it or to obtain adequate support. Many have undergone Female Genital Mutilation and do not have access to appropriate care.

Currently, GAMS BE covers for the medical fees of an FGM survivor that might need a specialised medical examination.

What do FGM survivors need? A structural response that only the government can provide.

That is way GAMS Belgium is calling for accommodation for women who have experienced violence without status conditions, and free access to specialised support services.
