End FGM EU at Women Deliver 2026: advancing global action to end FGM/C
From 26 to 30 April 2026, the End FGM European Network will be in Melbourne, Australia, for Women Deliver 2026, one of the world’s leading conferences on gender equality and the health and rights of girls and women. Our participation reflects a continued commitment to ensure that ending female genital mutilation and cutting remains central in global discussions, policies, and collective action.
End FGM EU will be represented by:
- Marianne Nguena Kana, Director of End FGM EU
- Nejma Sayeh, Policy and Advocacy Officer at End FGM EU
- Bassmala Morkaz, Youth Ambassador at End FGM EU
Together, our team will contribute to key conversations, share expertise from the European context, and strengthen partnerships with global allies working to end FGM/C.

A strong presence across key moments

Our engagement begins with the pre conference “United for Action: Global Solidarity to End FGM/C” on 26 April from 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM. Co-hosted by the Global Platform for Action to End FGM/C, of which End FGM EU is an active member, alongside leading organisations worldwide, this full day event will focus on collaboration, political mobilisation, and joint strategies to accelerate progress. It builds on previous successful gatherings and aims to ensure that FGM/C remains a global priority within gender equality agendas.
Valerie Lolomari, founder of Women of Grace UK and member of End FGM EU, will deliver the opening, and Isis Elgibali, project manager at WADI, will be a speaker.
During the main conference, End FGM EU will play an active role in several sessions:
- Voices for Change and Action: Empowered Youth Led Advocacy Against FGM/C
On 29 April from 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM, Nejma Sayeh and Bassmala Morkaz will participate in the co organisation of a dynamic session in the Youth Zone. This workshop will focus on practical advocacy tools and strategies, supporting young people to move from awareness to action. Grounded in peer to peer learning and lived experience, it will highlight the crucial role of youth as agents of change
- Dismantling Racism in Anti FGM/C Movements: Path to Decolonial, Survivor Led Advocacy
Also on 29 April from 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM, Nejma Sayeh will co facilitate a collaborative session addressing racism and power dynamics within the movement. Bassmala Morkaz will contribute as a speaker alongside leading survivor advocates. The session will explore how racial hierarchies undermine solidarity and will work towards building more just, survivor centred and decolonial approaches.
Strengthening a global movement
Women Deliver 2026 offers a unique opportunity to connect with partners from across regions, exchange knowledge, and align strategies. Our presence is part of a broader effort to recentralise survivor voices, youth leadership, and intersectional approaches in the global fight to end FGM/C. Throughout the conference, our team will also contribute to documentation, storytelling, and outreach through photos, videos, and interviews, ensuring that key insights and voices are shared widely.
