AIDOS Updates

On the 5th of February, AIDOS President took part in a seminar on “Health care for women with FGM in Europe”, organised at the National Research Council (CNR) in Rome, gathering institutions, civil society and health professionals.

AIDOS recently concluded the UNFPA/UNICEF Joint Programme on FGM supported project “Building Bridges between Africa and Europe to End FGM”. A series of videos were produced in the framework of the project, including both collective projects written and filmed during the two trainings AIDOS organised in 2017 in Burkina Faso and Uganda and other produced afterwards by participants to the training. The 8 videos, launched online on the 6th of February using the hashtag #onevoicetoendfgm, showcase an incredible set of different storytelling techniques, settings and views, with one common goal: to promote the abandonment of FGM. One of these videos, “One Voice”, was also presented in two cinemas in Rome (11th of February) and in Mantova (20th of February), in the framework of a film festival focusing on documentaries from all over the world, with an introduction on AIDOS projects on FGM.

The same day in Madrid, Clara Caldera, as End FGM vice President and AIDOS representative talked about the network’ building bridge approach and the UNFPA/UNICEF Joint Programme on FGM project to the UNAF (Union de Asociaciones familiares) national event on FGM.

On the 8th of March, AIDOS joined the Women's Global Strike to stop any form of men's violence against women and AIDOS President participated in an event organised by the Municipality of Reggio Emilia, presenting the association’s work to end FGM both in Africa and in Europe.
