Rohma Ullah
Rohma is currently the Head of the National FGM Centre and Assistant Director at Barnardo’s SEEN. With a Master's degree in Human Rights and Cultural Diversity, Rohma has conducted research on governance and child trafficking in Afghanistan, research for NATO with the Institute for Democracy and Conflict Resolution on the impact of human rights post conflict, and the scale and impact of harmful practices across the UK, using her research background to inform her specialised work in child protection, providing strategies to combat these complex issues effectively internationally.
She specialises in combating violence against women and girls, specialising in FGM, breast flattening, abuse linked to spirit possession and witchcraft as well as other harmful practices and has extensive experience working with children, young people, families, and communities on the front line, as well as training professionals in best practice models, and working with cross-governmental organisations across Europe to transform services, policies and procedures in taking a system change approach towards providing better outcomes for more children.
Born into a family of refugees, Rohma draws on her personal experiences to advocate for those often unheard, amplifying their voices and championing their rights.
