Luul Jama is the founder and Operations Manager of Existera. She is 40 years old and a mother of three, living in Sweden. With 20 years of experience in human rights and social work, she founded Existera ten years ago, in 2015. Existera is an organisation specialising in addressing female genital mutilation (FGM), established in response to a significant gap Luul observed in the women’s rights movement. Existera’s key areas of expertise include building communities through group sessions for survivors and men about FGM, education, participation in networks, and political impact and advocacy.

Luul sees many exciting opportunities within this network to collaborate across borders, for example through joint marketing campaigns to raise awareness about FGM and highlight collective efforts. She believes strongly in the power of exchanging ideas and creating more spaces for dialogue, knowledge sharing, and collective growth. She has an extensive network across various sectors, both public and private, not only in Sweden but also in Europe and the United States. Existera is well known and well established in Sweden, with strong connections in Swedish media.
