Joint Statement: Welcoming the European Commission’s Publication of the Revised Victims’ Rights Directive

On July 13th, the European Commission released the proposed revision of the Victims' Rights Directive.

End FGM EU, together with the wider community of NGOs working on victims' rights in Europe, have signed this joint statement to welcome the awaited Revision proposal but also to highlight some shortcomings.

We need a Union that ensures that all victims, including Survivors of FGM and GBV, have full access to:

  • adequate, accessible information on their rights
  • support services, including specialised and widely available support services
  • full protection from potential secondary victimization

We will continue to cooperate with other CSOs and the EU institutions to ensure that the Directive is strengthened and allows for the enjoyment of full rights for all GBV and FGM Survivors in the EU.
