End FGM European Network joins efforts to strengthen and shield European democracy with the upcoming MFF

The End FGM European Network (End FGM EU) has joined over 330 civil society organisations in signing an open letter urging the European Union to prioritise the protection and strengthening of democracy in the upcoming Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF).

This cosigned text emphasises the need for an EU budget that is aligned with the values of democracy, equality, and justice. By reinforcing democratic institutions and safeguarding freedoms, the letter aims to ensure that Europe remains a strong supporter of human rights defenders, marginalised communities, and vulnerable groups.

As part of this broad coalition, End FGM EU is reaffirming its commitment to upholding fundamental human rights, with a special focus on protecting women and girls from harmful practices such as female genital mutilation. The organisation sees the MFF as a critical opportunity to address these issues through strategic funding, advocacy, and policy development. End FGM EU believes that the upcoming MFF must ensure that civil society organisations, especially those focused on combating violence against women and girls, receive adequate support to continue their essential work.
