End FGM EU joins open letter on reported exclusion of FEMYSO
After noticing the exclusion of the Forum of European Muslim Youth and Student Organisations (FEMYSO) from the European Parliament activities, End FGM EU has signed an open letter with various civil society organisations addressed to the President of the European Parliament, the Secretary General, and the Members of the Bureau.
Since 2016, FEMYSO has been a longstanding partner of the European Parliament youth engagement initiatives, supporting the European Youth Event (EYE).
In this letter co-signed with more than 30 organisations, we call on the European Parliament for clarification regarding this decision, which has raised serious concerns about the criteria adopted and the lack of transparency in the processes.
Its exclusion also raises questions about the European Parliament's commitment to equality, non-discrimination based on religion or belief, and the right of all citizens and civil society organisations to be part of the initiatives.
End FGM EU supports FEMYSO's call to clarify the reported decision and the adopted process and encourage the European Parliament to renew its commitment to safeguard civic and public spaces, and ensure that all youth organisations can participate in democratic life without any discrimination.
