End FGM EU 10th Anniversary

End FGM EU 10th Anniversary

We are delighted to invite you to the celebration of the End FGM EU Network’s 10 years of action, “End FGM EU 10th Anniversary: A Decade of Action - Shaping a Future Without FGM” which will take place over a day and a half in Brussels, on the 6th of November.

The End FGM European Network is celebrating a significant milestone—ten years of relentless advocacy and action towards the eradication of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in Europe and beyond. The anniversary event, themed “End FGM EU 10th Anniversary: A Decade of Action - Shaping a Future Without FGM”  will take place on the 6th of November at the European Parliament in Brussels.

For the past decade, End FGM EU, representing 39 members across 16 countries in Europe, has worked tirelessly to mobilize policy, resources, and public support across Europe to combat female genital mutilation. The 10th anniversary is not only a moment to celebrate but also a renewed call to action, to shape a future where all girls and women live free from FGM.

The event is co-hosted MEPs Lina Gálvez (S&D, Spain) and Evin Incir (S&D, Sweden) and will be also available online through this link.
The discussion will be followed by an informal networking reception

This significant anniversary event will allow us to celebrate our achievements, discuss upcoming challenges, and strengthen our collaborations.
The End FGM European Network's 10th-anniversary event is not just a celebration of past successes; it is a call to action for the future. By reflecting on achievements, engaging with stakeholders, and outlining a strategic vision, the network aims to solidify its commitment to ending FGM across Europe. Together, we can shape a future where all girls and women live free from FGM.

We sincerely hope to see many of you in Brussels!

Day 1: Event at the EU Parliament
November 6, 2024 from 2:30 PM – 8 PM.

Formal half-day event at the European Parliament with speeches from the Network, MEPs allies, and key partners, continuing with a more informal celebratory event and reception.

We are looking to celebrate the event at the European Parliament. This is important on such an occasion to symbolise the continued support that exists between civil society and their representatives at the EU level. Many of the key achievements of the European anti-FGM movement were made possible thanks to the close collaboration with members of this house

Day 2: Capacity Building Session

November 7, 2024 from 9 AM – 4 PM.

Workshop on social impact evaluation, presentations of impact studies, impact framework, and theory of change organised with GAMS Belgium and ESSEC of Paris.

The capacity-building day focused on social impact evaluation is essential for the "End FGM EU" network, as it aims to reinforce its members with effective tools and methodologies to measure and assess their actions against female genital mutilation (FGM). This capacity building day will facilitate the sharing of experiences, promote collaboration, and develop a common understanding of the challenges related to social impact.

By presenting GAMS Belgium’s social impact study and collaboratively developing an impact framework, this session will enhance the collective capacity of the Network. The theory of change session will provide a conceptual framework to guide future actions and evaluate their effectiveness.

Day 2: Ambassadors Training

November 7, 2024 from 9 AM – 4:30 PM.

_________

As usual, one representative per Member organisation is invited to attend and participate in the event, and costs related to their participation (travel, accommodation, subsistence) will be covered. Multiple representatives from an organization are welcome to attend. However, please note that only the expenses for the official delegate will be covered by END FGM EU if there is more than one representative per organization. The organisation will be responsible for covering the costs of any additional representatives.

Looking forward to seeing you in Brussels to celebrate the past 10 years, reflect, and discuss your perspectives, and expectations from the Network for the next 10 years!
