7th EU-AU Civil Society Seminar – Final Summary and Recommendations

The 7th Civil Society Seminar on the African Union (AU)-European Union (EU) Human Rights Dialogue was held in Banjul, The Gambia, on 28-29 October 2017 and had as a theme “Tackling Torture in Africa and Europe”. End FGM EU contributed to including FGM as a topic under discussion to be tackled in a cross-border way between continents and regions, in line with our building bridges approach. Measures to prioritise its abandonment include the ratification of relevant international and regional conventions, the domestication and implementation of obligations to end violence against women and girls, including FGM, the inclusion of indicators and benchmarks in agreements between the EU, the AU and their Member States.
