6 February is the International Day of Zero Tolerance of female genital mutilation. This day is used to raise awareness of the issue female genital mutilation, which affects 3 million girls every year.
END FGM YOUTUBE CHANNEL
END FGM European Campaign is launching its YouTube Channel this weekend with videos of European politicians sending out messages of support to women and girls affected by, or at risk of, female genital mutilation.
The first videos are of Isabelle Durant, Vice-President of European Parliament and Petra Bayr, MP from Austria.
EVENTS
A number of partner organisations of the END FGM European Campaign are hosting events on or around this date to raise awareness amongst people in Europe.

Austria: FGM-Hilfe will host a "strong voice" of the campaign; a young woman who has undergone FGM and is now an activist urging young people to speak out. Leyla Hussein will speak about her work and her personal story of breaking the cycle of FGM. Find the details here
Germany: MAISHA e.V. and Lebendige Kommunikation e.V. will host a roundtable discussion on FGM with a number of politicians and community workers. There will be a celebration with African dinner and music. Find the details here
Belgium: On 4 February, GAMS Belgium will host a colloquium on the theme of FGM and Religion, in the presence of Her Majesty, Queen of Belgium. On 6 February, there will be a fashion show and a theatre piece titled "La Chose". Find the details here
