ENDING FGM: A Strategy for the European Union Institutions: LAUNCH IN VIENNA

WHAT: The European strategy developed by END FGM European Campaign, led by Amnesty International Ireland and in partnership with a dozen grassroots organisations, will be launched on the day. Politicians and government officials will be urged to support the campaign and its goals to ensure the EU plays its role in ENDING FGM.
The speakers at the launch will include:
Petra Bayer MP
Ulrike Lunacek MEP
Engelbert Theuermann, Head of the Human Rights Directorate, Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Dr. Beate Wimmer-Puchinger, Wiener Gesundheitsbeauftragte (in charge of the health service of the city of Vienna)
Dr. Marion Gebhardt, Leiterin der Magistratsabteilung für Frauenangelegenheiten (head of women's section in the magistrate of Vienna)
Leyla Ahmed, Community youth worker, Africa Well Woman's Clinic, United Kingdom: A strong voice of the campaign, she will speak about working in the FGM practising communities.
Katja Svensson, Advocacy Officer, END FGM European Campaign
Dr Elisabeth Cencig, Chair, FGM-Hilfe
Voices of people from FGM-prevalent countries will be represented through a film called 'Strong Voices of Africa'.
A musical trio will be performed by Clemens Hofer, Bernhard Höller, Stefan Thurner
The event will be followed by a buffet.
